About GlyphType
GlyphType is a free Unicode text editor, character library and exploration environment created to make dependable plain-text characters—and the wider cultural world of Unicode—easier to use and understand.
Purpose
PROOF provides a carefully evaluated collection for messaging, social media and other environments where only plain Unicode text is available. GLOBAL brings together catalog data and broad open-font coverage so that rare scripts, historic writing systems and symbols can be explored in one place.
The project is intended as a constructive public contribution to Unicode literacy, typographic exploration and cross-platform text use. It does not replace the Unicode Character Database or claim universal rendering support.
Authorship and development
GlyphType was conceived and directed by Marc Ruske, including product design, research direction, methodological decisions, editorial structure, testing and final validation.
The implementation was generated with OpenAI Codex under that human direction and reviewed against the project’s data, behavior and stated methodology. This description documents the working process and does not imply endorsement by OpenAI.
Independence
GlyphType is independent and is not associated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Unicode, Inc., the Unicode Consortium, Google, Adobe, BabelStone or OpenAI. Unicode data and the referenced font projects remain the work of their respective maintainers.
Read the methodology and limitations, inspect the font inventory and licenses, or review the public changelog.
